Vol. 22, No. 2 [Helen]
June 24 — ‘46
Dear Family—,
Have decided that unless I wrote a brief account of the wedding, that it may be omitted from the record. On account of the sudden death of Ann’s mother, the wedding plans had to be changed, and the ceremony performed in Dayton, instead of Madison, Wis.
Inasmuch as Ann had not completed her instructions, they could not have a Nuptial Mass, but our Pastor Fr. Curley married them at the railing at eleven o’clock. We had attended a High Mass at eight a.m., at which we received Holy Communion.
David was best man and Elaine the bridesmaid, Ann’s sister Ruth gave the bride away. Gee and Larry drove over from Anderson and Sadie came down from Lansing, Mich. They and Aunt Rose were the only guests.
We had the wedding breakfast in our apartment and late that afternoon Dick and Ann flew to Toledo. We all went out to the Airport and saw them take off in to the “blue skies yonder.” They returned in time for our wonderful family reunion on June 21st.
I shall be on my toes for the next round. By now you are all back home, with fond memories of our wonderful three days together.
Dearest love—Helen
